A combination of a front camera and full-range radar sensors registers preceding traffic and stationary vehicles. If the driver fails to react to a warning of an imminent frontal collision, Driving Assistant Plus automatically brakes the vehicle, if necessary using maximum deceleration.

Also included in the Driver Assistance Plus Package is Speed Limit Info, which shows the speed limit for a particular road in the instrument cluster, while the Active Blind Spot Detection system, assesses the traffic situation on multi-lane roads in order to prevent critical situations when pulling out to overtake. When performing an intentional lane change at any speed upwards of (12 mph), the driver is warned by a visual signal and a steering wheel vibration if another vehicle is hidden in the critical area behind or alongside the new BMW X6. Parallel parking made easy with the Parking Assistant.

Additional convenience when driving in town is provided by the optional Parking Assistant. This system helps the driver identify and drive into parallel parking spaces. When the parking button is pressed, the new BMW X6 parks itself automatically in the selected parking space. While performing this precisely controlled maneuver, the system provides the necessary steering input, while the driver operates the accelerator and brake pedal, and selects the correct gear. Further aids to easy maneuvering include the standard Park Distance Control (PDC), with sensors at the front and rear of the vehicle the optional rear-view camera and optional Surround View system, which shows a 360-degree view of the vehicle and its surroundings in the Control Display, while the Panorama View front and rear monitoring function provides a better view of cross-traffic when emerging from an exit with poor visibility. The image provided by the cameras is shown in the iDrive display, while an audible warning signal indicates objects approaching the car from the side.

This 10.2-inch display changes its appearance depending on the selected Driving Dynamics Control mode. Clear differentiation between the various modes is provided by different-style graphics and different color schemes.

In COMFORT mode, the display shows a classic array of four circular dials. In ECO PRO mode, the rev counter is transformed into an EfficientDynamics display. In SPORT mode, the speed is displayed digitally in the form of a large figure in the center of the speedometer, while the currently engaged gear is displayed in the center of the rev counter. For the new BMW X6, the BMW Head-Up Display – which projects important information in full color onto the windshield – now includes additional content.

When required, telephone contact lists and entertainment information can also be projected into the driver’s direct field of view. As well as vehicle speed, 3D graphics also show Check Control messages, navigation information – including lane recommendations, speed limits – and other information supplied by the driver assistance systems. Driving enjoyment and safety at night can be enhanced by the optional Adaptive LED Headlights with automatic high beams. Also available for the new BMW X6 is the BMW Night system, which now detects not only pedestrians but animals as well. The system relays a real-time video image to the Control Display showing people, larger animals and other heat-radiating objects, even if they are outside the headlight beam. A warning is provided if there is a risk of collision.

BMW Assist eCall and TeleService. The new BMW X6 is equipped with the BMW Assist eCall system and TeleService including a 10 year subscription. The system relays important information to the BMW Call Center in the event of a crash, such as vehicle position (accurate to within feet), chassis number, vehicle model, vehicle color and data from the onboard sensors. The system also detects how many people are travelling in the vehicle, which airbags were activated and the intensity of the impact.

Thanks to the company’s ground-breaking Urgency Algorithm, the system also uses data from the vehicle’s crash sensors to assess and transmit the likelihood of severe injury. This makes it easier to supply first responders with critical information in a timely fashion. TeleService monitors its service needs, such as engine oil and brakes. When necessary, the vehicle transmits its status and service needs to BMW. The customer’s BMW Service Center can access the vehicle-related data and a BMW Service Advisor can then call the customer to schedule a convenient appointment. Perfect connectivity with BMW ConnectedDrive Services available at all times.

BMW Assist in the new X6 includes Remote Services such as vehicle unlocking and stolen vehicle recovery. Also available is the optional Concierge Service – a telephone information service which BMW ConnectedDrive customers can use, say, to make hotel or restaurant reservations, look for addresses and telephone numbers or check opening times. BMW Online is also available. BMW ConnectedDrive Office functions, supported either by the customer’s smartphone or by the built-in SIM card, allow the Sports Activity Coupe to be used as a mobile office. Emails, appointments, contact lists, calendar entries and notes can be shown on the Control Display. A dictating function converts spoken notes into text, which can be stored and forwarded as an SMS or email message.

BMW Apps is standard in the new X6. Among other things these apps support web radio functions, social media functions such Facebook and Twitter, and the range of online entertainment features provided by BMW ConnectedDrive. This flexible apps strategy makes it possible to incorporate not just proprietary BMW Group apps but also BMW Apps-ready applications from other providers such as Pandora, Audible, Stitcher, Rhapsody, TuneIn and Glympse. If there were ever two models that served as pioneers of their kind in their respective markets, the and the X6 are as good examples as you can find.

The X5 was introduced in 1999, becoming one of the first premium SUVs to hit the modern automotive market. 10 years later, the X6 followed suit, ushering in a new sub-segment that has come to be known as the coupe-SUVs.

Today, both the X5 and X6 are still soldiering on, and BMW is doing its part to keep models fresh with the release of the X5 M and X6 M Black Fire Editions. Developed specifically for the high-performance M versions of both models, the Black Fire Editions provide a more menacing visual profile for both the X5 M and X6 M. The upgrades included are more cosmetic in nature than anything else, highlighted by the use of a Sapphire Black Metallic paint finish on the SUVs’ bodywork. The black treatment is actually spread throughout, covering significant spaces in both the exterior and interior. The end result certainly speaks to how Bimmer intended these two SUVs to turn out as both special edition models look about as sinister as anything we’ve seen from either of them in the past. Remember the CLR X 6 R kit that the German tuner presented in 2014? That one was overflowing with aero kits to the point that it completely changed the physical makeup of the high-performance coupe-SUV.

But even that kit doesn’t compare to this tuning kit that Lumma Design has come up with for the X6 M. On the bright side - no pun intended - the program does give the X6 M an impressive output of 750 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. That’s on par with other kits for the coupe-SUV.

Lumma also has an impressive wide-body kit on offer and a bespoke interior program that allows prospective customers to take stabs at designing their own cabins. Those are great options for discerning owners of the X6 M. The only downside is that freakishly bright neon yellow paint finish that, generously speaking, is as close to an acquired taste as anything Lumma Design has offered in the past. Everything else though is aces, though, so I won’t blame a customer for getting the program and requesting to leave out the paint job. That’s what I’d do if I had the X6 M; I wouldn’t want to go home with an X6 M that can presumably serve as its own light source in the dark. Continue after the jump to read the full review. If you ranked the tuning programs for the BMW X6 M, few would probably argue that G-Power’s Typhoon kit ranks among the best of them.

The German tuner’s widely recognized program for the German coupe-SUV has continued to provide thrills for those who avail of it. The latest iteration promises to do more of that as G-Power is offering an output increase of 750 horsepower and 723 pound-feet of torque. You don’t need to be an auto engineer to know that 750 ponies means serious business, no matter the car. But let’s not get caught up with G-Power’s engine program for the X6 M. It’s impressive by any stretch of the imagination. It’s just not the only thing impressive about the Typhoon kit.

The program also comes with a wide body kit that includes the tuner’s iconic carbon fiber hood. Oh, and let’s not forget about the wheels. Driver Usb Cable Modem Motorola Sbv5121 Windows 7.

True to form, G-Power is also offering a variety of wheel choices, including an exclusive option that’s somehow considered an upgrade over the already impressive lineup of wheels that the tuner is offering. It goes without saying that tuners don’t always live up to the expectations of aftermarket customers.

But if there’s a tuner that has earned its reputation over and over again, it’s G-Power. By sheer record alone, it’s hard to argue against G-Power’s place in the hierarchy of BMW tuners. Continue after the jump to read the full review. The BMW X6 M may suffer from an identity crisis, but nobody’s going to knock for being a performance paperweight. The truth is, the X6 M is very powerful.

It’s also very fast and that more than compensates for the model’s aesthetic confusion. German tuner Manhart sees it differently though. In its mind, the X6 M’s 575-horsepower and 553-pound-feet of torque output numbers doesn’t quite cut the mustard. So it did what any aftermarket tuning company would do in a similar situation. It prepared a program for the high-performance X6 M, the likes of which gives the SUV a pretty significant overhaul.

Let’s cut to the chase, shall we? This kit packs a lot of punch. Plenty of it in fact. Manhart did its homework by giving the X6 M’s 4.4-liter bi-turbo V-8 engine a significant overhaul to get its output up to the level of what’s normally given to supercars. Not only that, the program also features some aftermarket work on the exterior, a revamped interior, and a new set of wheels. Granted, it’s not the only program available in the market for the X6 M.

But for the things that Manhart did to the coupe-SUV, it might as well be one of the most polished kits out there. At the end of the day, these programs can only do so much to improve the base car. But what Manhart did was give the X6 M an identity that fits into its sporty and aggressive nature. Sometimes, that’s all a car needs. Continue after the jump to read the full review. Ever since it was established in 1987, the aftermarket tuning company AC Schnitzer has built a reputation as one of the preeminent tuners in the business. With the possible exception of, no other aftermarket tuning shop is as closely associated to Bavaria’s finest models as AC Schnitzer.

That cache has been with the German tuner for years and it’s that same cache that was on full display at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show where AC Schnitzer presented the Falcon program for the BMW X6. Like most of its projects, AC Schnitzer focused its attention on three important element of the X6: the exterior, suspension, and engine. Each of these three sections were given comprehensive modifications with each part complementing the other two and vice versa. That’s where the genius of the tuner manifests itself.

AC Schnitzer’s blueprint in building the perfect kit involves a unique interplay between all the moving parts of the program, thus creating an overarching improvement on all facets of the SUV. That’s what this program offers for owners of the X6, and if I’m to be honest, it’s arguably one of the most rounded kits AC Schnitzer has built for the coupe-SUV.

The debut of AC Schnitzer’s tuning kit for the new BMW X6 at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show meant it would only be a matter of time before a similar program would be unveiled for the more powerful X6 M. Well, it certainly didn’t take long because the German tuner has just released the details for the said program. Similar to the setup of the X6 tuning kit, the version of the X6 M is as comprehensive as it’s going to get. It has exterior modifications, suspension upgrades, and minor interior improvements. Most importantly, it comes with an impressive engine upgrade that adds almost 80 horsepower to the X6 M’s output.

AC Schnitzer hasn’t said how much the program’s going to cost. I do think that the cost of acquiring this program would fall somewhere in the $10,000 to $15,000 range. If you are really interested in the program, your best bet is to hit up AC Schnitzer to get a quote on the kit. Since some parts can be added as extra options, the price could vary depending on what you want to put into your X6 M.

Continue reading to learn more about the BMW X6 M by AC Schnitzer. The 2015 BMW X6 M has reportedly lapped the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 8:20 minutes. That’s the word from Bimmer Today, which claims that the fast lap was recorded by another German publication, Auto Zeitung.

The SUV was driven by Nurburgring specialist Horst von Saurma, the man responsible for more than 50 official lap times on the 'Green Hell' since the late 1990s. Though it’s impressive for an SUV, the 8:20-minute lap doesn’t make the X6 M the fastest crossover around the ’Ring. That crown remains with the 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR, which lapped the German track in 8:14 minutes in July 2014. What’s more, von Saurma’s time is far off from BMW’s original claim that the X6 M would be as quick as the previous-generation 2008 M3 Coupe, which needed 8:05 to complete the course. Instead, the SUV was only two seconds quicker than the E46 M3.

Both M3s were driven by von Saurma in 2007 and 2000, respectively. Despite being slower than BMW wanted us to believe, the X6 M was still quicker than a bunch of full-fledged sports cars, including the Skyline GT-R R32 and older versions of the Exige S and Cayman S. That’s nothing to sneeze at given the SUV tips the scales at 5,185 pounds. The twin-turbo, 4.4-liter V-8 engine and its 567 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, as well as the sophisticated underpinnings that make the SUV handle like an performance sedan work as intended. Not even when it comes with an M badge, even though that means it packs a 567-horsepower and 553-pound-feet V-8 powerplant.

Call me crazy, but I simply don’t like its hunched appearance. On the other hand, my idea of an SUV revolves around the 1969 K5 Blazer, which is why I wouldn’t fancy an X6 even if BMW dropped a 2,000-horsepower engine in it. But that’s not to say I can’t appreciate BMW for its effort to make the X6 M the sportiest crossover out there, only slightly slower than the M4. However, when BMW started bragging about how the second-gen X6 M is sports car in SUV guise, I began to wonder whether these claims are real or just PR talk. I guess anticipated naysayers like me. It flew DTM race drivers Timo Glock and Marco Wittmann in to test the crossover at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas F1 track.

Both drivers claim the X6 M handles quite well in the twisties, with Glock noting that it feels like a compact sports car. Wittmann, last year’s DTM Champion, said he reached cornering speeds of up to 105 mph in the X6 M, which is impressive for a crossover that weighs more than 5,000 pounds. With 2014 being officially known in the automotive world as the 'year of the recalls,' it is no wonder that certain carmakers are trying and steer away from being put in the same boat as those offering cars with Takata airbags. BMW is one of those brands, with the Bavarian automaker currently trying to pass a voluntary recall as a much fancier 'customer care package.'

The recall involves just about every BMW with the N63 engine ever built, although probably not all cars will need to have the same amount of work done to them. For those unfamiliar with BMW engine terminology, the N63 powerplant is the twin-turbocharged, 4.4-liter V-8 with 402 horsepower that saw use in every 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series, X5, and X6 model that have names ending with '50i' and were manufactured between 2008 and 2013. Having the service bulletin number B001314, the recall may take several days for each vehicle involved and could include replacement of the fuel injectors, mass airflow sensors, battery, crankcase vent lines, fuel pressure sensor, the engine’s vacuum pump and last, but certainly not least, replacement of the timing chain. If all that didn’t sound like enough, all cars using this exact variant of the N63 engine will no longer be a part of the long-life service intervals, instead requiring a service check every 12 months or 10,000 driven miles. Everything is not as grim as it sounds though, since it seems that affected BMW owners will receive a replacement car for the time that their vehicles are in the shop.

Plus, the carmaker will also offer to buy-back the affected vehicle and offer a new one at a discounted price. The BMW X6 M arrived for the 2010 model year as one of the first M model to have xDrive all-wheel-drive and an automatic transmission. The second one was the X5 M. Unveiled at the 2009 New York Auto Show, the X6 received the company’s 4.4-liter, V-8 engine tuned to deliver 547 horsepower and 501 pound-feet of torque, and needed 4.5 seconds to reach 60 mph from a standing start. It took four years to update the X6 M, but when it did in 2014, it made the SUV faster than every 2015 M model except the M3 and M4 with the automatic transmission.

This time, he’s bringing us the goods from The New Coalinga Municipal Airport in Coalinga, California, for a half-mile, side-by-side drag race to find top trap speeds and the limits of acceleration. It’s called Airstrip Attack Seven, and it’s brought to you by racing organizer Shift-S3ctor.

Amateurs and pros alike come out for the event, which makes for some very interesting racing down the airplane-free landing strip. Testament to this statement, we find an Italian supercar lining up with a high-powered German SUV.

Both come bearing heavy sporting intent, but the philosophies behind each couldn’t be more different. The 458 uses low weight, high revs, and a slippery profile to achieve its speed, while the Bimmer is all about brute, unstoppable force to shove its way down the track. Further complicating matters, both vehicles have been modified, with the Ferrari packing a reported 630 horsepower, and the BMW bringing 650 horsepower to the party. There are no timing lights, no staging, just hands up, hands down, and go.

The video shows the race from two different angles, which is a good way to analyze how both these machines handle this test of straight-line speed. By that logic, it should also be pretty fast. But how fast can Bimmer’s hulking, new coupe SUV go?

According to M project manager Herbert Bayerl, the new X6 M could complete a lap around the Nurburgring in the same time as the previous BMW M3. German auto site Sport Auto set the time for the M3 E92 when it set a lap of 8 minutes, 5 seconds at the Nurburgring back in December 2007.

If the new X6 M is capable of posting a similar lap time as Bayerl is saying, it would take the ‘Ring’s SUV lap record from the Range Rover SVR, which posted an 8-minute, 14-second lap time. Not only is that nine seconds faster than the Range Rover SVR’s time, it would also be about 20 seconds quicker than the 8-minute, 24-second lap time set by the previous X6 M! For an extra slice of perspective, the Audi R8 V8, Alfa Romeo 4C, and the Porsche Cayman S all posted lap times of 8:04, presumably making them only one second faster around the ‘Ring than the new X6 M. On the other end of the time sheet you have the 2004 Subaru WRX Sti Spec-C, which clocked in a lap time of 8 minutes, 6 seconds, a second slower than the new X6 M. At this point, all that’s left is actually seeing the new X6 M post that lap time.

As much as I’d like to believe Bayerl, I have to admit that it’s hard to believe these claims unless we see it for ourselves. Click past the jump to read more about the BMW X6 M. Introduced in 2009, the X6 debuted to an SUV-crazed world that didn’t know what to think of it.

The very next year, the M-version rolled out with a massively powerful, 4.4-liter V-8, all-wheel-drive, and a sport-tuned suspension. Now things were really confusing BMW’s SUV-that-isn’t-really-an-SUV is getting a substantial update for 2015, including both the standard X6 and its high performance variant, the X6 M. Time has now passed and the X6 has been mostly accepted into the BMW fold. Like its cousin, the X5, the X6 and X6 M are getting a smart refresh for 2015. Both M vehicles receive important changes under the hood, with a three percent increase in horsepower, a welcomed 10 percent increase in torque, and an estimated 20 percent gain in fuel economy. Fast-forward to August 2014, the beefed-up crossover is already stretching its wide wheels on the famed Nurburgring track. And the camouflage keeps disappearing off its muscular body, as revealed by a new batch of spy shots we just received in our inbox. It took BMW only a few days to ditch some of the swirly wrap that’s hiding the high-performance crossover from our eyes.

While the black prototype that was pushing it hard on the 'Green Hell' earlier this month had its side skirts and rear end hidden under a thick layer of camo, the red-painted example our paparazzi spotted in Germany wears a more casual dress. The redesigned side skirts are now in plain sight, while the revised rear fenders and the tailgate are no longer obscured. Sure, there’s plenty of camouflage needs to peel off the X6 M, but for the meantime we’re grateful we can squint our eyes a lot less to catch the little details making this crossover special. We already know everything there is to know about the second-generation BMW X6, which was recently launched for the 2015 model year, but its high-performance version, the X6 M, is still somewhat of a mystery. What we do know about it, though, is that the Germans have been testing prototypes since early 2014. Now that yet another test vehicle has surfaced, this time around on the Nurburgring track, we know for a fact that development is well underway.

How do we know we’re looking at the upcoming X6 M? Well, that’s very simple, despite the fact that the SUV is still wearing a serious amount of camouflage. The first hint lies in the front bumper, where a couple of large air intakes can be spotted. Then there’s the rear diffuser, which isn’t available on the standard X6, and the redesigned, more aggressive side skirts. If you still have doubts, then the hostile exhaust note coming with the video above should convince you. Speaking of which, the X6 M will retain the turbocharged, 4.4-liter V-8 currently residing under its hood. The unit is now rated at 547 horsepower and 501 pound-feet of torque, but it’s unlike for to let those numbers untouched.

Expect output to increase to around 560 ponies to keep up with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. Alongside an upgraded engine, the second-generation X6 M is also in for a revised aerodynamic body kit, the updated headlamps and taillights of the 2015 X6, and a revised interior with updated technology and new trims. The unveiling is expected to take place by the end of 2014. BMW released the X6 in 2008 and revealed a revised version in the middle of 2012. These changes were the last the first-gen SUV would receive because, starting 2015, BMW begins selling the second-generation X6.

The X6 has quickly become a successful model mostly due to the fact that it doesn’t have much competition. That won’t change too soon, but Mercedes-Benz is prepping coupe SUVs of its own. With that in mind, BMW focused on improving the X6 in just about every area, including a 20-pound diet. Sure, that’s not much considering the X6 tips the scales at over 4,600 pounds, but it’s a worthy achievement for a vehicle that’s longer and wider than the one it replaces. Besides gaining a crisper appearance that blends many cues already seen on 2014 model year BMWs, the coupe SUV also boasts updated technology and a slightly roomier interior. Engine-wise, only one engine available in the United States has been uprated.

Unfortunately, BMW is still stubborn enough not to send a diesel mill over the Pond, so you’ll have to settle for the 3.0-liter gasoline version if you’re looking for something more efficient. Updated: BMW announced prices for the revised X6 set to go on sale in the fall of 2014.

Prices start from $61,900 for the xDrive35i version and from $72,900 for the xDrive50i version. The company’s new X6 program is called the CLR X 6 R. By the looks of it, Lumma Design just hit another home run. It’s a comprehensive program that really shapes the X6 into an even more imposing road presence. Lumma accomplished that by installing a ridiculous new body kit that further highlights the muscular qualities of the sporty SUV. This is the kind of vehicle conversion that has made Lumma Design into one of the most well-respected BMW tuners in the world.

Far be it for the tuning firm to limit its work on aerodynamic upgrades, Lumma Design also has an incredible engine upgrade for the X6. I’m not just talking about some middling boost either. I’m talking about a significant increase in output that puts the X6 in the neighborghood of supercars. Before I start trembling in excitement and lose all my words, I’d also like to point out that Lumma Design has some big plans for its CLR X 6 R program. It’s currently scheduled to appear at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and we know that only the very best programs show up there.

Besides all the improvements and updates made to the X6, the Individual program allows owners to order their X6 — or any other BMW product — with a high level of customized features not normally available. In this case, BMW is showcasing a Pyrite Brown Metallic X6. The special paint is compete with an extra level of metallic flake, adding luster to its looks. Rolling on unique 20-inch V-Spoke 551 wheels, the crossover SUV looks just different enough to be noticed, yet not scream for attention. Of course, a plethora of other colors are available as well.

BMW demonstrates four new colors for the interior, however. The choices include Criollo Brown, Nutmeg, Amaro Brown, and Smoke White. Other parts of the interior are customizable as well. Shows off a close-up of a dashboard finished in Merino Leather Taupe, Merino Leather Scotch, and an Alcantara headliner dyed in a Scotch Dark tone. Light Brown wood trim finishes the look off. Another interesting and arguably more functional option is the BMW Individual Cooling Box located behind the rear bench. It attaches just aft of the center arm rest and is accessible though the center pass-through.

Spaces for several bottles and other items gives passengers the opportunity to enjoy 'in-flight refreshments.' Of course, if you need the extra luggage space, you can remove the cooling box from the rear cargo area. The BMW X6 has been blurring the lines of SUV and sports car since its introduction in 2008. Things got even more strange when BMW threw a diesel engine under its hood and slapped an M badge on the side.

Yes, makes a diesel-powered M product. Unfortunately for those in the United States, the X6 M50d has been unobtainable.

That trend sadly continues as the X6 rolls into its second generation for 2015. The X6 can thank its second-generation upgrade to the X5, the SUV on which it’s based and shares much of its platform. For 2014, the X5 received a healthy makeover, including slightly larger dimensions for increased interior volume, a revised exterior, and a fresh interior. The standard 2015 X6 is destined to arrive on U.S.

Shores likely sometime in the fourth quarter of 2014. While the M50d will be missing from our BMW lineup, our friends overseas will get to enjoy its torque-rich oil-burner. The M50d sports a straight-six construction displacing 3.0-liters and spooled up by two turbochargers. With an output of 381 horsepower and a tire-shredding 546 pound-feet of torque, the X6 M50d sprints to 62 mph in just 5.1 seconds.

Even with all that power, the 3.0-liter, I-6 diesel still sips fuel like a Prius. On the European test cycle, the SUV returns a highly-respectable 42.8 mpg! Let that soak in while you click past the jump.

The X6, though, is one of those that has its stamp of approval. That’s precisely why G-Power went to great lengths to build the SUV a new 'Typhoon' program, complete with a comprehensive list of new aerodynamic parts and a performance upgrade that increases the output of the X6 to an impressive 725 horsepower and 656 pound-feet of torque, a staggering rise from the standard 440-horsepower output of the standard X6. Oh, and that metal-twisting torque numbers can be bumped up to 737 pound-feet with an added performance boost. Either way, you probably aren’t too disappointed about an X6 that can hit 62 mph in just 4.2 seconds to go with a top speed of 186 mph, right? That’s a full 1.2 seconds faster to 62 mph and a top speed that is 37 mph faster than the stock X6 xDrive50i. With that much work done on the X6 by G-Power, it’s a little surprising that people aren’t giving it the due attention it deserves. We’re not doing it, though, because we know what this company is capable of when it goes through the rigors of building tuning programs that have as intimidating a name as 'Typhoon.'

We’ve known for quite some time now that BMW has been preparing a new-generation X6, but this is the first time a prototype was caught testing, as BMW decided to take the next X6 to the Nurbrugring racetrack to see how well the sporty SUV handles. Few details are known about the next X6 up to this point, but we do know it will drop about 330 pounds, and will focus on making the SUV more fuel efficient. The engine lineup will undergo a few changes, and it will include a new four-cylinder engine for the entry-level model, and a 400-horsepower, straight-six engine for the top version. Rumors suggest we could also see a hybrid powertrain. The new BMW X6 will be unveiled sometime in 2014 and will be put on sale in early 2015.

The latest kit, which is based on the BMW X6M, does not only include a cool exterior wrap, but also some pretty important updates under the hood. Cam Shaft wrapped the X6M in its usual BMW colors: Frozen anthracite matte metallic combined with diamond-black matte metallic. This wrapping costs about €2,450 — about $3,300 at the current exchange rates.

The rest of the kit was developed in cooperation with PP-Performance and Vorsteiner. PP-Performance was responsible for updating the 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V-8 engine, which produces 555 horsepower and 501 pound-feet of torque in the base X6m. The tuner managed to bump the V-8 engine’s output up to a total of 720 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque.

To the current generation X6 in style, as it presents a special X6 M Design Edition that is limited to just 100 units. BMW will offer this special X6 M only three exterior colors: Alpine White, Sapphire Black and Red Melbourne. When compared to a base X6 M, the new Design Edition is distinguished by a special aerodynamic kit from M Performance. This kit includes a new front splitter and a new rear spoiler made from carbon fiber, a black kidney grille. Black exterior mirror caps and a black-colored diffuser of the series.

The sits on a set of 21-inch alloy wheels in double spoke design. For the interior, BMW adds in full Merino leather trim combined with an instrument panel in Black/Mugello Red with Mugello Red contrast stitching and a Piano Black trim.There will also be a special plaque Edition 'X6 M Design Edition - 1/100' to round out the package. Under its hood, the X6 M Design Edition has no updates over the base mode, so it packs the same 4.4-liter V-8 powerhouse with 555 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. Back in 2010, German tuner Hamann announced theTycoon EVO M program for the BMW X6 M.

Now that BMW has officially revised the X6 M, Hamann saw fit to give its own Tycoon program its own share of upgrades. The program, now called Tycoon II, takes the updates even further by transforming the X6 M into a real bonafide beast.

The most impressive job was made under the hood where the tuner managed to increase the SUV’s standard output to a total of 670 horsepower, a significant increase from the standard 555 horsepower. To achieve the modifications it aimed for, Hamman installed a sport kit HM 670 that includes catalytic converter pipes and optimizing the engine characteristics. Next to delivering more power, these upgrades also increased the peak torque from 501 pound-feet up to 700 pound-feet. With the extra power and torque the X6 M can now hit a top speed of 186 mph. So when the M version was also dropped, we had no doubts that it will instantly become of the best sold sports SUV on the market. After all, with 555 horsepower under the hood, who can ask for more, right? Well, the answer is German tuner, Inside Performance, which has unveiled a sweet Stealth package based on the X6 M. The tuner decided the car can pump out much more power than the standard model, so it installed a special exhaust system available in two power levels.

Level 1 it gets 3-inch piping and up to 3-inch valves, and level 2 gets new downpipes and new generation 200-cell sports metal catalysts. The result is an output of 700 horsepower and 626 pound-feet of torque. In order to handle the extra power, the tuner installed new 22-inch alloy wheels and adjustable suspension. BMW recently revealed subtle updates to keep the BMW X6 M competitive in the face of stiff competition across the super performance SUV segment. Since the X6 M’s 2010 launch, the competing Cayenne, Range Rover Sport and Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG are either all new or significantly enhanced to better neutralize the BMW threat.

The X6 M follows the successful mechanical template from the X5 M but enhances its appearance with a fastback coupe profile and a trimmed window line. The stylish X6 M stands out in the BMW showroom when compared with the bread-and-butter models like the 3 Series and 1 Series. The appeal for these buyers comes from the inherent impracticality of the design’s chopped roof versus the practical X5. It separates the X6 M as a car bought by people for who all-weather performance is king of kings. The X6 M has been a runaway sales success for BMW among these niche audiences – to the point where non-M X6s are the rarity.

With a package name that is similar to a fax machine’s model number, the BMW SP6 X is Sportec’s attempt to change your mind about diesel engines. Sure, at one point in the past diesels were loud, rough and loaded with nothing but torque, but times are changing. We have a sneaking suspicion that this tune may change your perception of a diesel engine. The package mainly focuses on the performance of the X6. In this example, the car is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder diesel engine that, thanks to Sportec, now produces 370 horsepower and 750 Nm (553 pound-feet) of torque, a nice bump from the stock 306 horsepower and 600 Nm (442 pound-feet) of torque. This bump in output helps shave 1.1 seconds from its stock 6.5-second 0-to-60 mph sprint, which in real-time, 1.1 seconds seems like nothing, but in a 0-to-60 launch, that’s a lifetime. To add to the beefy upgrade, Sportec has also upped the top speed from 130 mph to 163.4 mph, making this Bimmer a touch more exciting.

Finally, the exterior features sporty exhaust tail pipes that breathe out more spent-diesel-fuel fumes and custom 19-inch OZ wheels to reduce the X6’s weight and add a little extra sport to its look. So, do you still think diesel engines offer no fun? For those who think that the BMW X6-M is simply a crossover with an M-spec body kit and a powerful V-8 engine, you’re wrong. It’s more than that To know how much more, here’s a video showing a person unleashing his BMW X6-M over a beautiful stretch of road. Apart from the beautiful exhaust note, we’re baffled at how a 6,200-pound crossover remains stable while negotiating corners. This sports car-like stability in a heavy, bigger vehicle is all thanks to the special M suspension that includes Adaptive Drive and a newly-developed Servotronic power steering.

This ensures that every BMW M product, big or small, has the performance and stability of a powerful sports car, if not greater. Also to be appreciated is the driver’s guts of unleashing a $90k Bimmer on a deserted, unpredictable road. If you notice, he zips past an intersection at a murdering speed, which would’ve brought a totally different conclusion, had another car was crossing that intersection. We won’t be surprised if we find another video or a news clip saying 'BMW X6-M Crashed into a Tree' or 'Driver is fined heavily after rashly driving BMW' Rest assured, for those who doubt it’s stability and cornering capabilities must watch this video and let us know whether that doubt is settled or not. BMW North American has announced the launch of a new limited edition, specially developed for the US market: the new Individual X6 Performance Edition. The model will be limited to only 100 units, 50 X6 xDrive35i units priced at $80,800 and 50 X6 xDrive50i units carrying a price tag of $82,000.

The model will be built in September and October 2012. The new special edition X6 will feature a very cool Pearl Silver metallic paint finish combined with a new set of 20' spoke wheels and a black chrome exhaust system. For the interior, the luxury SUV gets Black Alcantara/Leather seats and door panels with Sakhir Orange contrast stitching, as well as the use of BMW Individual’s Carbon Leather Wrapped Trim on the dashboard and center console. The BMW Individual X6 Performance Edition can also be ordered with the speedier M Performance Package that will increase the xDrive35i’s output by 15 HP and by 40 HP for the xDrive50i. Customers can also opt for a Premium Package, a Cold Weather Package, a Technology Package, and a Premium Sound Package. We spend loads of time reviewing sports and supercars that we tend to forget all about the SUV realm.

Back in the 1980s, when the SUV was just starting to become the new fad, there were no performance models to speak of. In the 1990s, we caught a glimpse of out first true performance SUV, as the GMC Typhoon hit the market in very limited numbers.

The Typhoon boasted stout numbers, as GM managed to pump a full 280 ponies from its typically underwhelming 4.3-liter engine. To boot, the Typhoon is still competitive today – in terms of speed – as it hots 60 mph in just 5.3 seconds and clears the quarter in 14.1 ticks. Unfortunately, the Typhoon was only a 2-door model and lacked the typical SUV utility. GMC also produced a little over 4,000 examples, so they were and remain very scarce. What’s cool though, is just how closely matched the Typhoon still is when compared to today’s performance SUVs.

It’ll never beat the likes of the Grand Cherokee SRT or the Porsche Cayenne, but it can certainly hold its own pretty well, especially for a 19-year-old SUV. We took a look at the current world of performance SUVs to figure out who is top dog. Click past the jump to find out the results.

The Europeans get all of the cool stuff first, as BMW allows them to rent various BMWs, including M-Series models, hourly, daily, or weekly, as opposed to shelling out the $40,000+ required to buy one. Well, after successfully testing in the Euro market, BMW is finally bringing this system, called OnDemand, to the U.S. Initially, the U.S. Launch will be isolated to only one dealership, BMW of Manhattan, and to one model, the 328i. BMW of Manhattan will offer up a total of 100 328is for people to rent to impress their boss, friends, or date.

This system is also great for fleet companies deciding if is right for them or prospective retain customers looking to take an extended test drive prior to lumping down thousands of dollars. It is pretty safe to assume that given this is the initial launch is in Manhattan, booking a rental 328i won’t be as simple as booking a Taurus from your local Avis dealer. Given this is all successful, we will see the available lineup slowly expand.

Some of the models to be added to the available rentals include the new 7-Series, X5, X6, M3, and even the M5. According to the report, however, to get premium rides, like the M3 and M5, the renter has to go through a more rigorous qualification process. Pricing for renting the initial 328i will not be known until about August, but you can rest assured that it will not be a $20 per day rental and we bet insurance is not optional. We’ll update you once pricing is released on this new system. BMW brought out the X6 in the second half of 2008, and with a few years of experience in the market, the SUV is now ready for a minor facelift to keep it refreshingly attractive. And when we say minor, we really do mean minor, because you need to look very close to see the changes in this facelift. The facelift starts off with redesigned fog lights, headlights, and taillamps with a new adaptive LED option, and moves on to newly designed bars, new paint finishes, light alloy wheels, and leather trim.

And that’s pretty much it. The US market will get its usual xDrive50i powered by a 4.4-liter 400 hp TwinPower Turbo V8 and the X6 xDrive35i with a 300 HP TwinPower Turbo inline-6. However, for the first time, the BMW X6 will be able to be ordered with an M-Performance package that adds a few ponies and a meaner look.

On the US market, the new BMW X6 will go on sale in the spring of 2012. UPDATE: has unveiled a pretty cool video for their new X6 SUV. The new model comes with selective modifications in design and innovative equipment features. Hit the jump to read more about the 2013 BMW X6. Trophy trucks are pretty bad-ass and so is the BMW X6. So what would that leave any automotive nut to figure? Well, the folks at All German Motorsports let us know the answer, as they pieced together a trophy truck based on the styling of the X6.

Nearly every single component on this AGM-built X6 dune truck was custom fabricated, as components to build an X6 Trophy Truck are just not readily available. In the end, AGM ended up with a pretty sick creation, as this beast weighs a whopping 2,000 lbs less than the typical trophy truck, and even 300 lbs less than the lightest stock X6. Those weight savings are thanks to a Jimco Racing-built frame that is several hundreds of lbs lighter than the average trophy truck and a McGrath Fiberglass-built carbon fiber body, which saves a significant amount of weight over the average trophy truck. After all of that body and frame work, a BMW V-8 engine was shipped off to Denzo for a complete build up. This custom-built V-8 produces a massive 725 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.

All of this combined with a plethora of custom suspension and braking work netted the team one nasty, dune-ready X6. In its inaugural running, the truck had an axle failure and had to retire early. The following day, this trophy truck clawed from its last place slot to finish in 10th place for the series, which isn’t bad considering it dropped out of the first race. There’s nothing like seeing a luxury SUV cruising through the desert at speeds well in excess of 100 mph and getting some serious airtime at the same time. We will keep you updated on how this X6 Trophy Truck performs in future races, so stay tuned! Under normal circumstances, a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 wouldn’t be able to hold a candle to cars like the Nissan GT-R, the Audi R8, and even the BMW X6M. Whereas the Grand Cherokee SRT8 is capable of producing ’only’ 420-something horsepower, the R8 carries 525 horsepower while the Switzer-tuned GT-R has 850 horsepower, and the X6M carries 620 ponies.

But things become very, very different when a Grand Cherokee SRT8 packs a monstrous 7.2-liter V8 engine that produces no less than 1,000 horsepower. When you line up an SUV carrying that much power, all common sense is thrown out the proverbial window. In this video, we have a 1,000-horsepower Grand Cherokee SRT8 engaging in a drag race with the three aforementioned vehicles. It’s a rare sight to see a Jeep SUV put a German supercar and a high-powered German SUV to shame. The only car that still managed to get a leg-up on the SUV was the Switzer-tuned GT-R, which took advantage of its own tuning upgrade to blast the strip and let the Grand Cherokee SRT8 eat its dust.

Check out the video and see how a 1,000-horsepower Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 does in a full-on drag race. The third and last model announced by BMW M Performance Automobiles today is the X6 M50d. Just like with the M550d xDrive and the X5 M50d the X6 M50d will be making its world debut in March at the Geneva Motor Show and will go on sale in Germany on June 16 at a starting price of 85,800 euro ($112,800 at the current exchange rates). The BMW X6 M50d shares the same 3.0 liter six-cylinder in-line diesel engine that delivers a total of 381 HP and a peak torque of 546 lb-ft.

The SUV will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds and top speed is limited to 155 mph. Fuel economy has been reported at 37.7 mpg. The model has a fuel economy of 36.7 mpg. Just like X5 M50d the space reserved for the foglamps has been replaced by new air intakes that help cooling the engine. The car gets Ferric Grey horizontal bars, race-inspired air-channeling flaps and a standard set of 20-inch M light-alloy wheels in double-spoke design. With the 2012 BMW X6 well on its way to a refreshing change, our spy photographers have captured what seems to be an odd looking X6M version lapping the Nurburgring.

The body is clearly an X6M, but if you take a look at the air scoop on the hood, you’ll notice that it has been changed up a bit to allow for more airflow. This leaves us with some rather interesting choices as to what can be hiding underneath the hood. For starters, it could be a high powered version of the twin-turbo V8 typically found in the X6M, but it could also be the rumored tri-turbo high-power diesel engine. If it’s the latter, then that would make this a test mule for the xDrive 55dM (name not official).

Insiders at have said that the tri-turbo diesel engine would appear in the facelifted X6 first, followed by an appearance in the 5-Series line as the M550dX. Whichever model gets priority over this engine, it is said to develop around 500 plus horsepower (between 500hp and 540 hp) and a torque north of 650 lb-ft., which would explain the adjusted scoop and increased air flow.

UPDATE: BMW has unveiled the first teaser video of their upcoming facelift X6 M equipped with the company’s brand new tri-turbo 3.0-liter diesel engine. The video is called “A new chapter powered by M. Step 1,' which can only mean that the official debut is getting closer! UPDATE: BMW has unveiled a new teaser video for the upcoming X6 M. Called 'A new chapter powered by M. Step 2,' the new video features Brian Watts - BMW M GmbH Head of Global Sales and Marketing - who describes the car as follow: 'This is a new kind of car. On every road, you feel like you’re on a race track.'

We’ll continue to stay abreast of this mystery and get back with official details as soon as they become available. Most of the packages from Senner Tuning have focused on vehicles such as the Nissan 370Z and the Audi A5, but now the tuner has diverted their attention to a larger car: the BMW X6. Their tuning package has it all, with exterior and interior upgrades, as well as a 30 HP power increase. The exterior modifications err toward the side of the M6, with a new front bumper, large air intakes in a honeycomb design, a new tailgate, and a modified exhaust system.

The standard wheels were whisked away and replaced with a new set of 22' wheels, leading towards the bottom part of the X6 where the tuner added a Bilstein B8 shocks system and springs with 25/20 mm lowering feature. The interior was only perked up with a new pedal set and a new DVD system to entertain any and all guests of the crossover. The boost in power provided for the X6 takes the standard 3.0L turbodiesel engine of the xDrive40d and gives it an ECU remap and a new sports air filter. These changes take the standard 306 HP and brings it up to 336 HP. It’s nothing to write home about, but at least it gets the job done. While BMW is preparing a refresh version for theX6 SUV, the tuners are looking for all kind of possibilities to update the current model.

The last one to offer such a package is the German tuner CLP Automotive. For 10,00 euro (about $13,500 at the current exchange rates) you can get a pretty impressive upgrade package for both the exterior and the interior. The exterior package includes a new front apron with a central air shaft, a widening of the front fenders, a side skirt of a special kind, door panels, widening rear fenders as well as a rear bumper. These new items can be made either in a paintable version or much more solid carbon.

At customer’s request the tuner can also offer headlight covers and/or a rear spoiler. The car sits on a new set of German Diamonds High-end aluminum cutting wheels size 11x23 inches at the front and even 12.5 x23 inches at the rear at painted in an impressive Golden Claw. The facelift version of the BMW X6 has been caught testing yet again, still wearing the almost non-existent camouflage found on the previous prototype. The only difference between the first set of images and this one is that this prototype is now donning the correct bumpers and displaying the new position of the BMW’s fog-lights.

Compared to the current X6, the facelift model includes new headlights with squared off angel eyes as found in all of the new models, smaller changes to the bumpers, and redesigned rear lights. The rear lights will appear with new graphics and BMW’s latest LED design.

As of right now, those are the only changes present on the updated X6. Power will still comes from the standard line of engines found in the current model: a 3.0L twin turbo engine producing 300/320 HP and a 4.4L twin turbo V8 delivering 400/440 HP. The Frankfurt Motor Show is just around the corner and automakers are still releasing tidbits of information to keep our interest until the doors open on September 13, 2011.

It’s BMW’s turn now, and the German automaker is packing their Frankfurt bags with an M Performance range of accessories for the X6 M, as well as accessories for the X5 M. The BMW X6M Performance Edition will be easily recognizable with its CSL tri-color stripes slathered on the new BMW M Performance carbon front splitter and the model-specific BMW M Performance side skirts, among other places. The exterior is then further tweaked with a new black front grille, a M Performance rear spoiler, and black BMW M Performance tail fins. Polishing off the look of the X6M is a new set of 21-inch BMW M Performance light alloy wheels in a double-spoke design. Next to the exterior modifications provided for the vehicle, the BMW X6M also gets a BMW M Performance steering wheel with an Alcantara cover and a flat-bottom rim. The steering wheel also sports three-color M stitching and a center marker in racing blue at the top.

We’ll know more behind the BMW X6M Performance Edition once it debuts in Frankfurt so stay tuned! BMW will be unveiling the special edition X5 and X6 Exclusive Editions at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September. Both of these models were created by using special paints and materials. The two models will be put on sale this fall. The X5 and X6 Exclusive Editions will be painted in an exclusive Orion Silver Metallic color that is only available on the 6-Series and will be combined with soft Nevada leather, special wheels, and a dark bamboo interior strip. Currently there are no details on the engine that will be used for the two models, but we do not expect to see big changes under the hood. These new exclusive editions will only be offered for the top versions of the two models which are powered by a V8 petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo and direct injection.

This engine delivers a total of 407 bhp at 5,500 – 6,400 rpm. Ever since the BMW X6’s official launch back in 2007, Lumma Design has offered numerous updates for it. Just recently, they presented the world with the CLR X 650 and now they’re coming at us with another package that features both exterior and interior updates, as well as significant engine updates. The exterior updates include a new front spoiler with enlarged air inlets, head light 'eye brows' and mirror hatches, a rear spoiler lip, and a sportive look engine bonnet, all made in carbon fiber. The rear gets a modified rear apron with a demanding diffuser. Rouding out the exterior is a new set of 22' wheels. The wheels have been combined with yellow painted brake calipers and a ride height reduced by 40 millimeters.

The interior gets an ergonomically formed and upholstered sport steering wheel with a bicolor interior fitting in rhombus optics and contrasting ornamental seams, front and rear sport seats in structured carbon leather, leather upholstered interior borders, aluminum pedals with slip-resistant rubber dots, and lit door sill panels with the LUMMA logo. For the engine updates, the BMW X6 gets a sport exhaust system in an X6 M look with 4x100 mm tail pipes in black racing optics. As a result, the serial diesel engine now delivers a total of 340 HP (up from 306 HP). Don’t worry, no one has manufactured high heels and extravagant wigs to place on any undeserving vehicles, but we have found a drag race that errs on the side of weird. Motortrend has taken a chance on a very eccentric review by pitting three out-of-place vehicles against one another: the BMW X6 M, Cadillac CTS-V Wagon, and Porsche Panamera.

If you take a look at the specs for these three models, a drag race may not seem too strange a task to undertake. The X6M is powered by a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 mated to a six-speed automatic with manual shift paddles that together produce 555 HP and 501 lb-ft of torque. It gets from 0-60 mph in a whopping 4.3 seconds.

The CTS-V Sport Wagon comes equipped with a 6.2 liter supercharged V8 engine that delivers a total of 556 hp and 551 lb.-ft. The engine can be coupled to either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic. It also does the 0-60 mph sprint in 4.3 seconds. The last awkward vehicle of the test was a Panamera and its 4.6L twin turbo V8.

This engine produces 500hp and 568 lb-ft of torque when mated to a Porsche’s 7-speed twin clutch transmission. We won’t spoil all of the fun and tell you who won this crazy race, but we will tell you that this video is a definite must-see! We fully understand the sense of irony with the name Romeo Ferraris and the cars that they work on, but nevertheless, it doesn’t take away from the quality of work they’ve done over the years. Fresh off their works on the Smart ForTwo, the Abarth 500, and the Audi RS6, the Italian aftermarket company is turning its attention on a pair of high-powered German SUVs in the form of the BMW X5M and the BMW X6M. In this instance, Romeo Ferraris prepared a conversion kit for both the X5M and the X6M, and the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine they come in.

The first step of the kit involves reprogramming their ECU systems, bumping up the output to 604 horsepower and 574 lb/ft of torque - up from the standard 555 horsepower and 501 lb/ft of torque it comes in. The next step after that is mapping and adding a pair of optional central terminals and sports matches.

This upgrade further bumps up the SUVs output to a staggering 655 horsepower and 638 lb/ft of torque. On top of the engine upgrade, Romeo Ferraris is also offering an enhanced braking system that comes with 6-piston front calipers, 380 x 32 mm discs, and 4 piston rear discs 380 × 28 mm, as well as an exterior and interior customization program that features outdoor films available in a number of options - carbon effect, opaque, or colored - and an interior that can be dressed up with either leather or Alcantara with matching Romeo Ferraris sports pedals to boot.

It might sound a little insensitive to be talking about a tuning package that makes reference to a natural disaster given the things going on in Japan these days, but then again, G-Power’s work on the new X6 M dubbed the ’Typhoon S’ certainly has no connection to the tragedies in Japan. The German tuning firm has made a handsome living with their works on BMWs in the past, and with their latest offering, these guys are still a long way from slowing down. The ’Typhoon S’ features a comprehensive tuning package for the X6, one that includes both aerodynamic and performance improvements. Despite having little to no interior upgrades, G-Power still dressed up the SUV’s exterior with new body parts that improve not just the car’s overall look, but also its effect on performance figures. And speaking of power updates, the Typhoon S was given quite the performance spike, reaching an output north of 726 horsepower - compare that to the Typhoon’s ’pedestrian’ 600-horsepower output - making this particular X6 one of the most powerful of its kind in the world.

With that came new electric vehicles and more green cars to run around. Which is all good but what scared me is that for every good car like say the 700 hp avantador there comes five bad cars. Such as the new line up of the priuses or all these new odd crossovers that no one can make sense of, like the X6. So what does the future hold for makers such as and us wondering if the great car brand is going to once and for all yank out the last of its roots and never be known as it once did. Don’t get me wrong I think it’s great that people are striving to make greener more efficient cars for us, but when you take the fun out of driving by making boring cars that are only made to get us from point A to point B, not how we get from A to B anymore. So what do you think the auto industry holds for us in the next five or ten years? Back in the 50s everyone thought that by now we would be driving cars that ran on nuclear energy.

What can we expect for tomorrow? If yesterday Lumma was revealing the CLR 558 GT package based on the new generation Porsche Cayenne, today the tuner announced the CLR X650 package based on the X6. The name might sound familiar to you as last year the tuner revealed the CLR X650 M based on the BMW X6 M.

Official debut will be made at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The exterior package includes a new front spoiler, rear bumper, side skirts, sporty looking bonnet, rear spoiler and carbon fiber inserts on the rear lip, mirror covers, front kidneys and headlamp visors. For the interior Lumma is offering leather upholstered sports steering wheel and leather covered carbon-look interior ledges. All the interior is covered in leather upholstery in black and beige, complete with decorative seams in the contrasting color.

The final touch to the car’s interior upgrade is the color coordinated instruments and the aluminum pedals with anti-slip rubber coating. The engine updates is only offered for the diesel versions. Thanks to an accelerator pedal power module and a new sports exhaust system the engine now delivers 340 HP and 670 NM of torque. When BMW launched the X6 out on the market, many members of the press highly doubted that this 'sports activity coupe' would stand a chance at success, but the customers spoke and the X6 turned out to be more successful than itself expected. Then, soon after the surprising success of the X6, brought their own version of the X6 and now Audi has announced plans to build their own version of the crossover to serve as competition to the original. When talking about the X6 in an interview with Inside Line, Audi Group Design’s Wolfgang Egger said: 'It has been a big success in China, where it’s become a second car driven by women.

There, it’s a female sports car.' He then added that Audi’s Q3 (pictured above) is just enough to serve as competition for the BMW, but he also said that Audi could do better. How much better is yet to be seen. Egger also gave InsideLine some insight on other models in the Audi lineup. He said that the A1 line-up would include a five-door hatchback, a 180-HP S1, and a cabriolet. As for the Quattro concept, Egger said that it 'wasn’t dead,' but has yet to be confirmed for production. Top Gear USA is starting to really come around as the US version of the famous car show heads towards the end of its very first season.

Eventually we see the trio of Adam Ferrara, Ruttledge Wood, and Tanner Foust coming into their own and not constantly being compared to Clarkson, Hammond, and May, but that’s still a long ways off. The US hosts need to spend a lot more time in the hot seat before they can rid themselves of the constant criticism and ridicule. Nonetheless, we’re beginning to love the show and most of the hosts. Sorry to say, we still love to hate Adam Ferrara. Episode Eight of Top Gear USA was just jam-packed with goodies, as Tanner and Ruttledge try to figure out if its faster to fly or drive from LA to Las Vegas, Bret Michaels takes a turn on the Top Gear test track, Rutt and Tanner review a Porsche Panamera Turbo and a BMW X6M, respectively.

Akrapovic has been making its way down the sports car list, with tuning kits provided for the Ferrari 458 Italia and the Mitubishi Evo X. This time, however, the tuner has gone on to tuning something bigger: the X6 M. So far, the secretive tuners have only released some images for the new project, but we imagine that this package will see some of the same updates as the previous ones. A standard BMW X6 M is powered by a 4.4-liter V8 engine that delivers 555 hp at 6,000 rpm and 500 lb-ft of torque from 1500 to 5,650 rpm, but with the new exhaust system we expect to see a power increase of at least 10 HP.

The new exhaust system will also be lighter by at least 14 kilos in turn making the SUV lighter. Combine all of this with a red exterior paint, a new set of wheels painted in black, and the black color of exhaust system and we get the perfect X6 M. Unfortunately for Akrapovic, there’s already been an extremely nice tuning kit provided for the sports car by the guys over at Vorsteiner. Well, technically, there have been two packages considering Vorsteiner was displeased with the first one and decided to add to it. Now all we have to do is wait to see the final product for the Akrapovic package. Six months ago we got a sneak peek at what was to become a hot little package for the BMW X6 M by Vorsteiner.

We had to wait this long for it, but we are finally able to provide the details for this package by the famous BMW-loving tuners. While this package sees absolutely zero engine upgrades - BUMMER! - it does come with a new aerodynamic package that makes the X6 M look absolutely amazing. Among the modifications provided for the sporty SUV include a new front add-on spoiler that is constructed out of carbon fiber composite (CFRP), a new front spoiler designed to add downforce to the front axle at high speeds while directing more air into the front radiators and air duct openings, and an all-new power dome sculpted vented carbon composite hood.

Follow the upgrades to the back of the car and you will find a new sporty carbon fiber diffuser that replaces the factory plastic unit, 3 modular aero fins that are attached to the main body of the diffuser in addition to 2 vented slits to help cool the exhaust system and a carbon add-on rear deck lid spoiler that balances the additional down force of the new front end. The package is finished by forged 1-piece monoblock aluminum wheels and high performance Michelin PS2 sport tires. UPDATE: Alas sometimes even tuners are left dissatisfied with their work.

This is the case with Vorsteiner’s aerodynamic package for the X6M. It seems the California-based tuning firm have decided to add a new VRS Vented Race Hood to the already stunning X6M. Not one to be left out of the auto tuning madness going around these days, German tuning firm, Hartge, has revealed the latest program for the X6.

As BMW’s pre-eminent luxury SUV, the X6 has been the subject of countless modifications from a number of tuning houses in the past, with one of them being Herbet Hartge and his boys. With this new package, the German tuning house from Beckingen, Germany offers a wide range of modifications on the X6, including a number of exterior and interior refinements and a performance upgrade. Judging by their reputation in the auto tuning world as one of the best aftermarket shops to bring your BMWs, there’s no denying that went all out in giving the X6 a complete overhaul that only a tuning house like Hartge can provide. Apart from BMWs, these guys have also built a reputation as master tuners for MINI and Range Rover. For now though, the onus is on the BMW X6, so check out what these guys did after the jump. When it comes to the tuning firm, Mansory, we’re already used to seeing some of the most amazing tuning packages, and their latest kit for the X6 M is no exception.

True to Mansory’s style, the tuner has modified just about everything there was to modify on the vehicle: bodywork, performance, and interior. The exterior package includes a new front spoiler with larger air intakes and an extra light bonnet made entirely of carbon. Newly designed side skirts, a newly designed rear skirt, and a roof spoiler were also added to transform the look of the car, and let’s not forget the 23' light alloy rims. For the interior, Mansory is offering any combination of leather, Alcantara, wood, carbon, or aluminum trim, and just about any technical gadget imaginable. And now the most important part: the engine.

A standard X6 M develops a total of 555 hp at 6,000 rpm and 500 lb-ft of torque from 1500 to 5,650 rpm, but Mansory updated the output to an amazing 670 HP and a huge torque of 950 Nm at 5900 rpm. In order to obtain this raise, the tuner added an entirely new exhaust system complete with exhaust manifold and perfected engine electronics. The result is a sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph. Press release after the jump.

The first news surrounding an X4 model came about in 2007, but they were amplified earlier this year when other several automotive outlets reported on a future, smaller version of the. According to our source, BMWBlog, the X4 has moved from an idea to the Concept stage and will be showing its little face in 2011. The production model will be launched in early 2014 and will share its underpinnings and interior parts with the X3. Some similarities will include the engine lineup including a 2-liter diesel engine that will deliver 177 hp, a 3-liter diesel that will deliver 231 hp, and the turbo version that will deliver 300 hp. The petrol engine will start from a 2-liter four-cylinder engine that will deliver 163 hp and will go up to a 3-liter turbo engine that will deliver 306 hp. The X4 will be exclusively built at the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina, currently home of the production X3.

Maybe the increased production facilities have something to do with the new car. Just what we needed, another cross over!

Hey Everyone I had some issues with one of my TPS in which I have cleaned it out with some MAF/electronics cleaner and has corrected it for now. I will still order a new TPS sensor just in case it comes up again which I have a feeling it may.

I am still getting 2 codes and can't really find much info online about what they exactly mean and how to correct it. 2E7C Bit-serial data interface, signal 2E98 Alternator, communication On a side note, the battery is at 12.49V and when starting it dropped to low-med 11Vs. Thanks -Pearson.
