The Unarchiver Password Cracker
This question appears to be different from similar questions asked because I HAVE the password. I really don't want to download extra safe-cracker's-anonymous software to hack into it. I right-click on it but no options there either.

You could have a weird zip file that is technically not bad, but isn't supported by the built-in software on Mac OS X. In some cases, when zip files won't open, I've had success opening them with The Unarchiver, which is available both in the App Store and outside it: (I don't know if there's a difference in functionality between the two. Do you know of a program that capecod could use to brute force the password? Physical access obviously isn't a problem, but I don't know if MacOS X will limit password attempts for files. Capecod, how long was the password? If it's under a dozen characters, you may be able to run a 'rainbow table' against it. I don't really know very much about this kind of thing, but I read that short-ish passwords (say, eight characters) are trivial to break since you can find tables of every combination of letters, numbers and symbols pre-hashed so your computer doesn't have to spend much processing power to 'check' a potential password. Sorry so vague--I really have no practical experience with this! Depending on what you know about the password, whether it uses english words or not, whether or not numbers or symbols are used, caps or lower case, for instance, and how many characters it is, can significantly speed up cracking.
